Assessment and feedback

Suggested essay questions for everyone (third years and MA students) are here. You can also write on other topics, but you need to get your question approved by me.

Third year undergraduates
You have two assessment options.

Option 1
One coursework essay (3,000 – 4,000 words)
Deadline for submission: Wednesday 18th December 2019 (12 noon)
Two hour exam, writing two essays (this is a seen exam and questions will be released towards the end of the semester)

Option 2
One long essay (4,500 – 6,000 words)
Deadline for approval: Monday 18th November 2019 (12 noon)
Deadline for submission: Wednesday 29th January 2020 (12 noon)

Remember, if you want to take the long essay option, you need to get approval from me. Single Honours students can do up to three long essays across the academic year, and Dual Honours students can do up to two long essays across the academic year. MA students
One long essay (4,000 – 6,000 words) or
Two short essays (2,000 – 3,000 words)
Deadline for submitting all essays: 16th December 2019 (first module) or 3rd February 2020 (second module)

I am very happy to read and discuss essay plans for everyone. You can email me to make an appointment or come to my office hours. You can also just knock on my door.

Nearer the essay deadline, I will use doodle poll so that people can book appointments with me outside office hours without endless emailing back and forth.
